Mariah Carey to do what Mariah Carey does, and celebrate herself, with #MC30

Fresh after announcing the release of her long teased book, Mariah dropped a teaser for #MC30. I know Mariah was fighting with everybody over that hashtag, because Lambs know how Mariah hates celebrating things in years and putting numbers on shit.

In celebrating of 30 years in the game, Mariah will (in Mariah fashion, and something we could all take note of) celebrate herself. Mariah has said nothing of what to expect, but the teaser gives you some idea. It's looking like we'll get HD versions of old music videos, releases of remixes which aren't currently on streaming, official YouTube uploads old performances (both seen and unseen), and maybe some unreleased material.

With #JusticeForGlitter and the fan campaigning of "All I Want for Christmas Is You" which led to her re-releasing it, Mariah and her team have found a sweet spot in the realisation that fans love her old shit. Like...REALLY love it. And they often make big deals of her old releases with listening parties, artworks, hashtags, sending shit to the top of iTunes charts, because WHY THE FUCK NOT?! The Lambs do the absolute most. So Mariah said 'Fuck it' and is giving the Lambs what they want. It's a smart move. Not only does it please the Lambs to no end, but it helps reintroduce herself to new audiences. There are some for whom their introduction to Mariah was The Emancipation of Mimi, but know NOTHING of what came before. There are some who only know her for "Vision of Love" and nothing else. There are some who only know Mariah Carey for "Hero", but have no idea that it wasn't a cover and that she wrote the song herself.

Mariah is in a list of artists who could announce they would never release new music again, and I would be absolutely fine. Not because I'm done with her music. Her last studio album Caution was amazing and far better than we deserved. But Mariah's given us so much amazing music that I'm good with it. I play Mariah's music so regularly and have done for years. It's timeless.
