Bee keeping Beyoncé graces the cover of British Vogue

Beyoncé released a new Ivy Park collection, which means one magazine got to interview her and be graced with her on their cover wearing pieces from the said collection. And by interview, we of course mean e-mail questions to her publicist Ms. Yvette Noel-Schure, who will then FAX back answers, making Vogue have to re-type that bitch.

The shoot took place back in August, part of which was done at Beyoncé's house. But you know she's got a whole ass wing of her house which is so far from the main crib that you can't see any piece of it what-so-ever. And the wing of the house the shoot took place was probably setup specifically as a studio. Nothing personal in the space whatsoever. Go on Beyoncé. Give the guests absolutely nothing.

There wasn't anything that deep in this interview that most members of the Beyhive didn't already know. As was the case with Beyoncé's interview for Elle magazine when she launched her first Ivy Park range with Adidas, the highlights are where Beyoncé shows her humour and tells you something random.

Below are some highlights.
  • Beyoncé is a business woman with things to promote. Her segues in Ivy Park and her Bey Good organisation were so damn slick. She let you know 'bout that Ivy Park immediately.
  • Beyoncé is always losing her phone, and she never charges the damn thing. So basically, don't bother calling Beyoncé. If Beyoncé needs you, she will have somebody call you on her behalf.
  • There wasn't always a plan to do Black is King. The plan was originally to shoot a couple of music videos (which I imagine were "Spirit" and "Bigger"), and then everything blossomed from there to give The Gift a visual companion.
  • Beyoncé doesn't mention Jay-Z other than in reference to the On The Run tour.
  • Beyoncé has two actual bee hives at home.
  • Beyoncé is forgetful and gets days and dates mixed up, but has a great memory when it comes to conversations and how people look. So, basically, Beyoncé ain't gon' remember your birthday or when your lil' album drops, but you will speak correctly, look right and fix those edges before you enter her presence.

When Beyoncé was last shot for Vogue magazine back in 2018, it was by a young then-budding Black photographer Tyler Mitchell, and this time around it was the same deal. Beyoncé was shot by a Beyhive member, Kennedi Carter (yep, that's her actual surname). A 21 year old Black female photographer, making her the youngest photographer to shoot for a cover of British Vogue magazine. It was always a given that the person who shot Beyoncé for British Vogue was going to be Black, between her and British Vogue editor in chief Edward Enninful calling the shots.
