Mere weeks after Faky put out a new song and already we have a solo offering from one of its members, Akina. But this feels par-the-course for Faky, whose music release schedule has been weird since the beginning and would give Blackpink's a run for its money. 7 years in the game and still no album.
"Touch" is a cover of British singer / songwriter Shura's 2014 song, but it's very different to the original, even though it shares the same sensuality. Akina's version flips "Touch" and gives it an uptempo funk 'n' disco flavour. Where-as Shura's version is midtempo synth-pop and far more of a slow burn. You can be more of a seductive hoe to Akina's version. But Shura's version is good if you're white people high and 'bout to put the pussy on a hipster.
Akina was the first new member to join Faky following original member's Tina and Diane's departures in 2016, yet has felt like a solid fixture since day one; having a very strong presence in each music video and on every song. She carries every look, holds down every routine and also has one of the better voices in the group. This said, I was definitely expecting Lil' Fang to be the first to release solo material, given she was is one of the original members who was / still is a main vocalist. Especially after her guest feature on Back-on's "Wimp" back in 2014.
No word on what this solo offering from Akina means. Maybe it means nothing and is nothing more than just a song, which is fine. I actually wish labels and groups were just cool with members just putting out solo shit without the expectation of an album, a hiatus or a split.
