Crystal Kay's *full discography is finally available on YouTube Music | Random J Pop

I was wondering what photo to use for this post, and found this one. Which is perfect. Because it's been 75 years of waiting for Crystal's full discography to hit all of the streaming platforms. And even now, we're STILL waiting for shit.

So, it's finally happened y'all. Crystal Kay's *full discography is finally available on YouTube Music. This is news which nobody is gonna care about, because barely anybody uses YouTube Music. The fact that Crystal's team took 8 months to get her Sony catalog up on the service goes to show you how much of a priority they saw YouTube Music in comparison to Spotify and Apple Music. But for those who do have YouTube Music accounts, rejoice!

YouTube Music is garbage. The app is a horrendously designed mess. There's no connectivity between different instances of YouTube Music which are running, as per Spotify. The content is sparse. And labels don't give their releases on the platform any care. Artist pages are never updated. You regularly find albums and songs on albums missing. Just as a quick example. Some of Ayumi Hamasaki's albums (i.e Guilty and Secret) have songs missing which are available on other platforms. Kumi Koda's discography has albums missing. BoA's Identity is missing the song "Lazer" - the best damn song on the album. Sometimes searches pull in random shit. It's raggedy. The only good thing about YouTube Music is how light the web based desktop player is, compared to Spotify which feels slow and heavy if you use it on anything but a phone.

But it's not just YouTube Music that's garbage. Some of Crystal's team ain't on their shit. They still don't appear to have made any head way with getting certain songs made available for any of the streaming services. The popular Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis produced "Kirakuni" is still unavailable, as are the Jam & Lewis produced on Color Change! "Itoshiihito" and "I Can't Wait", which are some of Crystal best songs. And half of Spin the Music is still unavailable. Nobody cares about that album, but for the sake of completeness, it's still a mess and it makes a trash album even worse.

But there's more.

The way her albums are catalogued across the different platforms is careless. Color Change! is listed under Compilations on Apple Music and not Albums. And all of the streaming services are missing different singles. YouTube Music doesn't have "One" or "Namida no Saki ni". Whilst Spotify doesn't have "Shiawase tte" or "Forever", and Apple Music has none of the singles released from 1999 to 2009. Tidal also has a few singles missing. But all of these songs are available to stream off of their respective albums. Make it make sense.

The lack of care and attention in regards to Crystal's discography and presence on streaming platforms is foul. But it's par the course for how her career is being managed.

Gurl. Get you a new fucking team. Seriously.
