Kyary Pamyu Pamyu drops Candy Racer like a hot potato for that Ninjala money

Kyary and that vroom vroom pussy done run out of gas, because Candy Racer is done y'all.

Kyary's 5th studio album left the Oricon charts with the quickness like it had a vaccine appointment. And Kyary is already pushing new shit which has absolutely nothing to do with it. Only a couple of weeks ago did we see Kyary getting Crocs money with no product tie-in to the album, and now she's getting Ninjala money with an entirely new song.

The song "Maybe Baby" will feature as the opening theme to the first season of the Ninjala anime series which debuts in January 2022. Kyary has a short history with Ninjala, with her 2021 single "Gum Gum Girl" having featured in the TV commercial for the Nintendo Switch commercial for Ninjala, and a remix of her 2013 song "Ninja Re Bang Bang" featuring in the game itself.

"Maybe Baby" sounds nothing like the core sound of Candy Racer, although it could easily be tied into it given its dance heavy vibe. The song reminds me a lot of "Crazy Crazy". 

It's a shame we didn't get some form of hybrid of something 'Japanesey' and ninja-like fused with what was clearly intended to be the core sound of Candy Racer, which was 80s pop and 90s rave, in a bid to try and pull people back to the album. Or Nakata and Kyary coulda just taken "Ninja re Bang Bang" and reworked it into "Ninjala Bang Bang" with a Candy Racer type edge. But the opportunity to re-use the song was squandered on some dusty Steve Aoki remix.

It's crazy to me that Kyary and everybody is just moving on from Candy Racer already. An album which was actually pretty decent and could have gone the distance if only Kyary and folk in her team cared more about trying to publicise the damn thing. If Kyary wants to keep the record label she went out of her way to set up, then she needs to do a better job of this music shit. Because the bottom line is that her music needs to sell. Unless of course Kyarihanna is able to make the beauty ventures work and rake in enough money to keep everything afloat.
