BSMNTPRTY releases their first single “Just For One Night”, featuring none other than Crystal Kay | Random J Pop

Crystal Kay has teased that a new song is on the way, but something new that she features on has also dropped outta absolutely nowhere. And unlike that dusty-ass DJ Tetsu song she featured on last year, this shit is actually good. So good in fact, that I would have absolutely taken this song as an official Crystal Kay single. I hope whatever Crystal comes with can touch this. Because if it can’t, then gurl. I-

I feel like it’s been too long since I’ve heard Crystal lace a song like this vocally. The harmonies are present. They are smooth. There are more than two layers. They have me rewinding.

BSMNTPRTY is a project by producer Chris Liggio, who shared via Insta that this song was actually recorded years ago. It turns out that he was invited to a session with Crystal Kay, and he brought along musician / songwriter John Thomas. All three of them wrote the song together. Crystal cut it. But for reasons undisclosed in the post, the song went unreleased. Then Chris had this miscellaneous rapper jump on the song recently to make Crystal sound like a ho, and now here we are.

I am curious to know when in the timeline was recorded. Given the song is in English, and Chris mentioned ‘a few years’, I wonder if it was cut during the period when Crystal was in the New York trying to make her US debut album. And if he was invited to do a session with Crystal (by her A&R team, I’d assume), then how did the song end up as his release and not hers? Questions that I would like answers to. So, Chris. If you come across this post, tell us what the deal was.

I think this is such a nice song for the Summer. Good vibes. Nice vocals. Clean production. Catchy. Very on trend, but would pop at any time because of its timeless sound and production. I get that “Just For One Night” is released through BSMNTPRTY’s label and not Universal. But why is Crystal’s team not even trying to push what is essentially a Crystal Kay song, and a really good one at that? Because they ain’t shit. That’s why. But we been knew.

LDH and Universal should be putting up funds to shoot a music video and get “Just For One Night” spun in Japan. Whilst the song isn’t released through either of them, it’s still in LDH and Universal’s best interests to help push the damn song because of Crystal’s prominent involvement in it. And if people hear the song, and like how Crystal sounds, then they will want to hear more of her, which Universal will reap the benefits of. Although, it would probably be Sony that reap more of the benefits, seeing as most of her good shit is theirs. But the point is that LDH and Universal should be pushing the song regardless, because Crystal is all over it, and she is fucking signed to them both.

Gurl, fire the whole management and marketing team.

If Crystal is planning to make a ‘comeback’ anyway, then LDH and Universal should lay the ground work for that. And it’d be a really good look to have an English song out AND a Japanese song out in the same market. Crystal’s team have rarely pushed that Crystal Kay is bilingual, and I think now is the time to do it.
