Members of the LGBTCK+. Let us hold our copies of Call Me Miss… in the air and rejoice. For we’ve got another official performance video from Crystal Kay’s 2025 North American Tour, and it’s of the semi-recently emancipated classic “Kirakuni”.

I’ve posted so many times on how ridiculous it is that “Kirakuni” wasn’t available when Crystal’s discography first hit streaming globally in 2020 and that it also wasn’t on her 25th anniversary best album or on the setlist for her 25th anniversary show in 2025, so I won’t bang on about it all again. It is just destinys-child_so-good.mp3 that there is an official performance of the song on Crystal Kay’s own YouTube channel. Because it was truly crazy that for a song so popular amongst Crystal’s international fans — and one that was produced by the legends that are Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis — that there was no trace of it on her channel for so long. Not even the music video. And between how Japan is about uploads to the internet of live performances (they fucking hate it and yank fan uploads down all the damn time) and Crystal not being the biggest of Japanese music acts (so there are less fans keeping these performances in circulation and preserved online), just finding performances of “Kirakuni” from 2006 anywhere is difficult. So it really is great to finally have one and that it’s official.

Crystal Kay - Kirakuni (Live from the CK25 North American Tour 2025) | Crystal Kay / クリスタル ケイ

It was so nice to hear Crystal perform “Kirakuni” with her current voice. She made so many cool and smart changes to how she originally sang it.

Crystal Kay really does need to release a self covers album. There are so many songs that we’ve not heard Crystal perform in so long, because she’s not really toured that much over the past 18 or so years. And there are songs we’ve never heard her sing live at all. So it’d be great to get an album of self covers where Crystal covers songs she’s never sung since recording them or songs of hers that she likes, but wants to re-arrange. Or even songs that Crystal doesn’t like, but wants to flip into something that she does like. We shoulda been had a follow-up to I Sing, titled I Sing ~My Own Shit~.

Girl, fire the whole marketing and management team.

But back to the “Kirakuni” performance. It was great. Crystal looked like she was having so much fun on stage. She always looks like she’s in her element on stage, which is why it sucks that her team wasn’t doing right by her for the past decade to enable her to hold tours regularly. But hopefully that changes.
