Beyoncé addresses the Class of 2020

Beyoncé addresses the Class of 2020 | Random J Pop

Y'all. Beyoncé don't ever do no on camera speech, interview, NOTHING anymore. But Google got her ass to hop on the YouTubes to give a rare speech for the class of 2020, who due to the pandemic are unable to have proper graduations. It works out well for Beyhive members, because if regular graduations were able to go ahead, Beyoncé wouldn't have said shit to y'all. You woulda gotten an insta post with an image of a cap and gown with 'Class of 2020' on it in Helvetica with no caption. But Chairwoman of digital outreach and the COO of the wig treasury at Parkwood entertainment and Roc Nation that is Blue Ivy Carter did what she had to and told her Mama to sit in front of the damn camera and say s'um.

There's a high likelihood that Beyoncé was tapped to offer a speech before the Black Lives Matter protests started. It just makes sense, especially after her HBCU themed Homecoming performance and the work she had done and continues to do for HBCU's. But the timing worked out almost too perfect.

Beyoncé woulda mentioned Blackness in her speech regardless. But it carries a new weight in light of what is happening in the streets right now, and that so many of those who are out protesting for Black lives to matter are those who're in college or have graduated.

Chile, the nervousness and stillness in her speech. It's awkward to watch for the first few minutes, but stick with it. Beyoncé starts to relax a little and hit her stride from the 5 minute mark onward, which also happens to be the point at which she shares anecdotes to her success and really starts dropping gems. It was a really nice speech. Very inspiring. Beyoncé's nervousness is also a reminder that she's human. Something that's easy to forget when you see her on stage.

Say what you will about Beyoncé, but the bitch has worked hard and continues to work hard. It's really not difficult to see why she is so successful and widely adored. She has already gone down in history and it's great that another Black woman will occupy a chapter in the history of music.
