Flashback Friday: Kyary Pamyu Pamyu - Fashion Monster | Random J Pop

It's Halloween month. So let us all rise for Scary Pamyu Pamyu's Halloween anthem, "Fashun Munsta". Fuck "Crazy Party Night (Pumpkin no Gyakushū)".

2020 was truly the year for Kyary to hit us with a Halloween EP. Pussy Pam is one of the few artists who could get away with doing such a thing without it seeming strange, off-brand or out of pocket. And maybe it'd force Tommy febraury6 and Tommy heavenly6 out to drop some Halloween shit too, because lawd knows we need something new from those bitches.

Kyary is never going to be taken seriously as a music artist, so she may as well keep being camp and kitsch with it whilst she still can. Her last studio album Japamyu didn't exactly light up the Oricon charts. But that's more to do with the timing of its release, the utter lack of promo compared to previous Kyary releases and Nakata Yasutaka's consistently ragged output than it is Kyary having no more mileage left in her career. Although you could argue that the combination of all three are a sign that there isn't. I still want Scary Pamyu Pamyu Halloween singles every year though. Gimme bat wigs, spider-web wigs, eye ball dresses and all the things until the wheels have fallen clean off.

Scary Pamyu Pamyu may not be giving us any bops for skeletons to pop their cobweb coochies to this year, but she is holding an online Halloween themed gig on October 31st, called The Family. It's good to see she is giving us SOMETHING for Halloween, which makes it even more of a shame that there was no new single or EP.
