Bad bitch sister duo Chloe x Halle gifted fans with a re-release of their second studio album Ungodly Hour, and also a long awaited music video for the titular track.
Chile. It's been 84 years. Chloe, Halle and the Parkwood posse seemed to be doing everything but giving us a music video for this damn song, and now it's finally here.
Ever since the Ungodly Hour album dropped I felt that the titular track absolutely needed to be a single and get itself a music video. But then Chloe x Halle performed the song for the MTV VMA's and gave a visual production so damn good that it looked a music video any way. So I then figured 'Is there even any point in a music video?'. Now there's a music video and...I don't think there was any point. Chloe and Halle look amazing in it, but it doesn't offer much more than we'd gotten with their performances.
Chloe x Halle finessed the absolute shit out of their album promo throughout 2020 in the midst of a pandemic, at a time when many artists were still trying to figure it all out. The work Chloe and Halle did in 2020 has put them in a position where they can drop a lil' re-release and still push the album in 2021. Possibly even stretch it to 2022.
With the Chrome Edition of Ungodly Hour now out, perhaps we'll get a couple more music videos. "Busy Boy" and "Tipsy" NEED music videos. And "Don't Make It Harder On Me" should absolutely be released the end of the year as a holiday single with a cute lil' Christmassy music video.
With Halle now in London for the production of Disney's live-action remake of The Little Mermaid, I don't know when Chloe and Halle are gonna find the time to shoot anything new. But with them being signed to Parkwood and knowing how Beyoncé and that team (members of whom Chloe x Halle share) be getting shit done, the time will be found.
🎤 The pandemic performances: E! People's Choice Awards | MTV 2020 VMA performance | Jimmy Kimmel performance | GLAAD awards performance | BET 2020 awards performance | Global Citizen performance | YouTube, Class of 2020 performance
