Chloe x Halle give us gays, drag queens and the Spice Girls in their GLAAD awards performance of "Do It" | Random J Pop

Chloe x Halle were asked to perform for the GLAAD awards, so of course they hit up a gay joint in Los Angeles with drag queens and RuPauls' Drag Race alumni Naomi Smalls, Mayhem Miller and Miss Vanjie to dress as the Spice Girls and perform "Do It".

Some may be sick of "Do It", but I still adore it. And given that it's the one song on the album that you could imagine Black gays going off to in the club and hitting the choreo to, it makes sense they'd perform it. Even though by now they should be starting to hit us with something new. But, hey. Milk the cow bitch.

This wasn't my favourite Chloe x Halle pandemic-performance though, because the whole thing felt so still. We've seen the kind of energy that Chloe x Halle usually give this song, and there was none of that here. Chloe x Halle and the Parkwood posse done set the bar so high with the performances we've gotten thus far, that anything less is just 'cute'.

I also didn't see the point in Chloe and Halle having microphones, because they were miming to re-done vocals of the song anyway. They shoulda been done with them and just hit this shit like it was a music video, which it absolutely looks like anyway.

But, the setup was fun and I like the Spice Girls deal. I just wish there just more energy. Halle looked like she was over it. Miss Vanjie looked like she just wanted to cut the cheque and go home. And Naomi could barely move and was off beat whenever she did. Chloe and Mayhem seemed to be the only ones really into this.

With Chloe x Halle now venturing out of their backyard, we may just get a third music video. Here's hoping that it's "Ungodly Hour" and that the visual is on par with "Do It" and "Forgive Me".
