Perfume, Nakata Yasutaka and Vaporwave feels like something that makes immediate sense, right? We're not the only ones clearly. As a Perfume fan who goes by the name 'Kenta' on YouTube took Perfume's "Polygon Wave" and gave it the Vaporwave treatment.
I was gonna file this under Remixes. But is it really a remix if all somebody did was slow a song down? No shade. A genuine question. This works for me. I'm in support of anything which takes a Perfume song and brings down the pitch of their vocals, which have been too high for too damn long.
I'm honestly surprised that there aren't more of Perfume's songs Vaporwaved on YouTube. If somebody could Vaporwave "Baby Cruising Love" that'd be grand.
Vaporwave and chill mixes is such a popular thing and has been for a little while now, that Perfume could upload an hour long Vaporwave mix of their songs to YouTube with a cool Rhizomatiks visualizer and rack up a whole bunch of views. I do sometimes wonder if Japanese artists and producers realise how trend adjacent they are to something. Because Nakata Yasutaka productions and Vaporwave is something I've seen fans discuss a fair bit over the years, and it's something that's always felt like it makes sense.
