Toshiko kicks Nakata's ass back into his bag for Capsule's "Virtual freedom"

Toshiko kicks Nakata's ass back into his bag for Capsule's "Virtual freedom" | Random J Pop

Nobody really knows what is going on with Capsule right now. Everybody is just enjoying the fact that they're active, between remasters of albums being rolled out and what appears to be a consistent string of singles. All things are pointing towards a new album. But who the fuck knows!? Nakata himself probably doesn't even know, and Toshiko sure as hell doesn't. She just gets Line messages of 'Bitch, come to the studio. I've got something for you to sing.'

Nakata is making music. He's putting it out. It's not completely sucking. And Toshiko is actually being invited to the studio. Let us just enjoy it.

Capsule's "Hikari no Disco" was a brilliant comeback, which was followed up nicely with "Future Wave". And now we get a third single "Virtual Freedom", which might just be the best single of the bunch.

All I kept thinking was 'Damn, I wish Nakata woulda gave Perfume something like this'. I really would like Nakata to have Perfume back on a dark electro vibe.

Between these solid Capsule singles, Kyary's Candy Racer and Nakata not completely falling off with Perfume, Nakata might be back in his bag y'all. And he's actually got Toshiko out here singing whole entire songs again. YSTK hive better stand up whilst the getting is good, because we don't know how long this Nataka streak will last.

When it comes to Capsule's albums, there's usually a theme or some form of concept which goes across every song. And it's clear that whatever Capsule's next album ends up being, that Tron, the 80s, video games and virtual reality will be a theme. And it's a theme which has bled right into Perfume's Polygon Wave EP, as the narrative arc of living in a virtual world went across all 3 of its main songs and their Tesla commercial which was VERY Capsule-esque.

If a new Capsule album is on the cards, then based on "Hikari no Disco", "Future Wave" and "Virtual Freedom", we may have something really fucking good to look forward to. It's been a while, FOR ME at least, since Capsule released a genuinely great top to bottom, consistent album, even as somebody who actually liked CAPS LOCK.
