Summer is usually when Perfume hold their FES concert. But in light of the pandemic they will be live-streaming their performances instead with P.O.P FES, which stands for Perfume Online Present Festival. I know. The acronym is foolishness. It's clear that P.O.P FES came first before what the letters would mean.
It's honestly nice to see the girls and their team take this shit seriously, when so many other artists still be trying to hold nationwide tours. Yes Kumi Koda and Beni. I'm looking at you hoes.
Perfume's P.O.P FES will not just be a day of performances, but lots of activities throughout the day which are yet to be disclosed. What these will be is yet to be disclosed, but Perfume have lifted the lid on one of them, and that's the Food Court. Fans can submit recipes (you can submit yours as of now), with those shortlisted being cooked by Perfume and said recipe being shared on their digital food court for fans to try for themselves. There will also be individual 'performances'. What this will entail, is yet to know known, whether this will be a music performance, a dance performance, Kashiyuka staring at a ceramic bowl, Nocchi playing Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles or a-chan crying as she reads a haiku. Who the fuck knows?
I am truly tired of Perfume and these anniversary, retrospective celebrations and shit, given that we did all this with P Cubed. P Cubed is dead. It's locked away. Let it go. Draw a line under that bitch. Give us a break from this anniversary shit and look forward. BUT. This online festival thing is an amazing idea, and perfect timing given that by the time this kicks off, the DVD of their [REDACTED] tour will have been out for a month, along with their new single "Time Warp", by which point we all woulda streamed it, watched the video and fans will have already uploaded their dance covers to YouTube and TikTok.
This festival seems like it will be a cool look at who Perfume are behind who we see on stage. Especially for international fans who aren't a part of Perfume's fancub, PTA.
P.O.P Fes will be a pay-per-view event, with the cost being ¥4500, which roughly coverts to $45 or £35, which is about the general price for a concert ticket, except you haven't gotta pay for travel, food and all that shit. Perfume have also made merch available, with an unfortunate logo design and colour scheme.
A fellow Perfume fan on Twitter noticed that the print spells 'Poo'.
You’re telling me no one in Staff realized it looks like “poo” is written all over the merch? 💀💩 https://t.co/yhZIiwD4qd— Viv 。o(😷) (@SapphicOpinions) August 31, 2020
And on brown towels and a lunchbox no less.
Chile.
Perfume get on my damn nerves. Because sometimes they are so next and so ahead. But other times they are so backwards. Watch this tour be a nightmare for international fans to access. And whilst I know bitches gotta make money, it woulda been nice to have had some of these segments air without pay-per-view. Even if it was just a case of their last performance (which would probably end up being "Time Warp" being streamed to YouTube.
Check out the official P.O.P FES website for details on how to watch it, participate and get the low down on the festival, as new information will be released as the P.O.P day approaches.
