Perfume remind y'all they have an 'EP' dropping in September, and that fans better respect the hustle of Imaginary Museum "Time Warp" | Random J Pop

Perfume have a Maxi single 'EP' dropping in September and they want y'all to know it. Again. Only last week did we get a lil' video promoting the release, and now we've got another which teases the additional content fans will be getting with it. As well as a reminder that Perfume have got some shit on Netflix that we all need to go fucking watch.

So, it seems that the limited edition version of Perfume's Polygon Wave EP will include something to do with their P.O.P FES Imaginary Museum "Time Warp" performance, but I'm not 100% sure what. I think it's the entire performance with an audio commentary from Perfume and Daito Manabe of the Rhizomatiks (the team who manages and creates all of the tech wizardry in Perfume's performances) on how the Imaginary Museum "Time Warp" performance came together. But don't quote me on this, because this is me Google Translating some shit. Perfume and Daito Manabe also sat down and recorded a podcast episode together back in July of 2020, which was a really cool listen, even though I couldn't understand a damn thing. It's a shame that streaming services don't include audio commentaries. It'd be great for the Netflix release of Imaginary Museum "Time Warp" to have this eventually.

If you've not watched Imaginary Museum "Time Warp", do yourselves a favour and check it out. It's available globally on Megaupload Netflix. Both Imaginary Museum "Time Warp" and Reframe (which is also available on Netflix) are amazing showcases of Perfume's showmanship and that the creativity in their team is unparalleled. If you're somebody who has checked out of Perfume for the past few years because of the mediocrity of their music, then these performances are great reminders of why you started to fuck with Perfume in the first place, and why they're still worth paying attention to.

As great as Perfume's promo has been over the past year and a half, I do wish they had pushed their Netflix releases harder. And I definitely feel it was a massive blow to not put their episode of My Music Story on Disney+ globally. Having Perfume content on two of the biggest streaming platforms would have been a great look. Then again, half of Perfume's music fell off of streaming platforms a few weeks ago and it's still absent, so somebody in their digital / licensing team ain't keeping on top of things.

My Music Story is a series which is made in Japan and spotlights Japanese artists. It's more of a documentary than performance showcases, even though performances are featured. So Perfume's team and Disney probabaly felt that the only Western market that matters is the US, which is some foolishness. I don't know why Perfume's team keep disrespecting the UK the way that they do. I mean, this country IS trash, but so is the US. I hope My Music Story makes its way to Disney+ in the UK and Europe eventually. Perfume's episode of My Music Story featured some really cool performances of Disney classics. Their performance of "When Will My Life Begin" was really damn good. But I'm biased because I stan Tangled.
