We have an official announcement y’all. Victoria Monét’s second studio EP album Jaguar II will be releasing on August 25th.
Jaguar II will feature 11 tracks, three of which are the 2023 singles “On My Mama”, “Party Girls” and “Smoke”. No “Coastin’”, “Nothing Feels Better” or “F.U.C.K”. But I figured these wouldn’t make the cut, as it was clear that “Smoke” was the start of this new album phase. Although given that “We Might Even Be Falling in Love” went a little viral on line following an ‘Add your own verse’ challenge launched by Victoria herself, which also reminded fans ‘Bitch, that shit shoulda been a full length song’; it’s very possible that a longer version of could be included too, maybe with a title change “I Think We Have Fallen in Love”. It’d be a cool tether between Jaguar and Jaguar II. Not that it needs it, as the sound is tether enough. But still. It’d be cute.
And this album cover?
Yes bitch.
I really hope Victoria releases a deluxe edition of Jaguar which features all of the songs from Jaguar and Jaguar II in one release, and that Victoria just re-releases some of the older songs, just because. Jaguar was great, and the songs from thatalbum EP deserve to have another moment now that Victoria has a larger following. “Experience” and “Jaguar” in particular both need re-releases. I done let her know in an Insta comment that the streets (me, I am streets) need a music video for “Jaguar” which actually has her in it. I also hope that Victoria includes “Ass Like That” as a bonus track. Not only was it a cool song very much in the vein of Jaguar, but it has a whole new meaning now, given that Victoria wound up in a relationship with a personal trainer and they have a child together.
Jaguar was such a grossly overlooked EP album. So it’s great to see Victoria continue on with it, because she definitely has unfinished business with it. But also, I am so into the vibe and branding of Jaguar, that I’d be down for Victoria just Final Fantasy’ing this shit. Girl, gimme Jaguar III, Jaguar IV, Jaguar X, Jaguar X-2, Jaguar: Crisis Core, Jaguar XVI.
