Japanese girl group Faky have finally released their debut album, 9 years after their debut. 9 YEARS AFTER THEIR DEBUT. And with it came the YouTube release of two performances from their #NoFilter gig which took place in February 2022 - the entirety of which is packaged with the limited editions of their album.
One thing Faky have been doing a fair amount of over the past couple of years, and consistently, is performing. Performing with such regularity isn’t something Faky were doing much of before, which is absolutely crazy to me for a group that’s almost a decade deep into their careers. But this is the age of music we’re in now, where newer acts aren’t given as many opportunities to hone their craft as live performers. It’s unfortunate. Because had Faky been on their shit from the start, they’d be pretty seasoned by now. But instead, we got something that made the group look like first-timers.

When the camera showed the crowd, I was like ‘Damn’. I wasn’t expecting the venue and the crowd to be so small. Faky’s team need to do better. Because a group that debuted on a major-ass label like Avex in 2013 should be performing in bigger venues than a vaccination tent in Kanda.
Faky generally aren’t as polished and as tight as they should be, as a result of Avex not really giving them a whole lotta performance opportunities. And watching these performances, it is very evident who is made for the stage and who isn’t. Akina and Lil’ Fang look comfortable and poised, where as the other girls are just...there.
Mikako is like wallpaper. I constantly forget that she is one of the original members of the group because she just has zero presence. I remember past members such as Tina and Anna over her, despite their shorter tenures. She needs to level up that pussy.
