Perfume hit up a TV show to perform with a boy band. And whilst Perfume performing with other acts outside of the Amuse Fest shows feel like a rarity; Perfume have done it semi regularly. In 2019 Perfume performed with the dance group S**t Kings. And they have also performed with Arashi and SMAP over the years. And it’s always a fun time when the group Perfume are performing with actually bother to learn their routines.
This year, Perfume paired up with Generations (an off-shoot from the 95 member boy band Exile), to perform their songs “Flash” and “Polyrhythm”, and the Generations song “Make Me Better”.
Because Avex have their content detector on YouTube set to the highest setting, I can’t embed any of the videos of this performance which exists on YouTube because of it. AND because of Ameba blocking uploads left, right and centre, I can’t upload the performances anywhere else. So, off to YouTube you go.

Perfume’s outfit design team really pulled out the pattern for those P.O.P FES outfits, and whipped them up in another colour.

Seeing Perfume not only perform with another act, but perform a routine which isn’t theirs, really highlights that Perfume’s dancing ability isn’t just confined to what has become their signature style of dancing. After seeing Perfume dance just one way for so long, it wouldn’t be weird to think that Perfume would visibly struggle to dance any other way. But, Perfume CAN move. They hit that “Make Me Better” choreo better than the Exile Lite boys did. Meanwhile the Exile Lite boys weren’t able to quite nail Perfume’s choreo. In the footage of Exile Series S learning Perfume’s routines, they said words to the effect of what many of us have been saying for a while now - Perfume’s routines are deceptive. Some of them look much easier than they actually are.
Exile SP were all sweating and could barely catch their breath after the performances when they had to hop on some mics and talk. Meanwhile Perfume were stood there like they had just walked onto the set and hadn’t dance for 3 songs straight. These women have STAMINA. Every time I watch their shows, the only thing that blows me away as much as the visuals and the ugly outfits, is how Perfume just keep going and never look fatigued. I’m a mess after walking just 10 minutes to the train station. I could never. In Exile Series S’ defence, the performance was part of their crazy-ass show, where they perform and learn routines within a 24 hour period. So they were probably fucked by the time this performance came around, which would explain why some of the members looked so out of it the entire time. The dude with the glasses was somewhere else.
